Day Ketterer In celebration of its 135 th Anniversary, Day Ketterer Ltd., commissioned seven local artists on August 7, 2007 to design two original pieces each for a permanent art collection to be housed within the law firm’s offices inside the Millennium Building.

Canton’s Mayor Janet Weir Creighton attended the press conference to kick-off the project at Acme Artists Gallery, located on 4 th Street N.W. She congratulated Day Ketterer on its anniversary, its longstanding traditions of civic duty and its leadership role in this unique marriage between the business and art communities to support the City’s growth initiatives.

“Day Ketterer is excited about this unique project that will celebrate our longstanding commitment to Canton and enable us to continue our support of the economic development of our community through expansion of the arts,” explained Managing Partner James R. Blake.

Robb Hankins, President and CEO of ArtsInStark, the County Arts Council, is excited about the project. “We are delighted that Day Ketterer has shown such creative leadership in supporting the arts in Stark County. By using their office as a showcase for local artists, they have set the stage for a new era in local arts patronage. We hope other companies will be inspired to expand their corporate art collections.

When Day Ketterer moved to its new location on Market Ave S., in 2001, architect William T. Eberhard designed the spacious two-story offices to incorporate artwork as part of the décor. Soon the vignette lighting that shines throughout the offices on barren walls will showcase Canton’s newest commissioned art exhibit.

Canton Artists contributing their works to the Day Ketterer Anniversary Art Exhibit include: Mark Ball, Dylan Atkinson, Christian Harwell, Tiffany Marsh, Chris Horn, Jerry Domokur and Wanda Montgomery. Over the next nine weeks they will transform 14 blank canvases into works of art. The final collection will be unveiled Wednesday, October 10 during the Firm’s Gallery-style Anniversary Art Exhibit where clients, friends, community leaders and participants in Brain Gain will be invited to view the paintings and talk with the artists.

“We are also working with the Canton Development Partnership to participate in First Fridays so that the exhibit will be open to the public on November 2,” added attorney Rob Roland who initiated the project at Day Ketterer. “We saw this great opportunity to foster the development of art in downtown Canton and to tie-it together with our 135 th anniversary. We are very excited that everything has fallen into place – it’s great for the continuation of the revitalization of downtown to restore Canton as a destination for people to spend their leisure time.”
